What are your responsibilities?

  • Instrument systems with particular emphasis on ensuring that software design is robust resulting in accurate, reliable and maintainable programs.
  • From time to time to take on the role of Project Leader of a development team as directed, providing team leadership and design direction as appropriate to the size of project.
  • To ensure the design follows laid down Codes of Practice, software procedures and project Life cycle methodologies following ISO9001 standards.
  • To solve product problems as they relate to Software and related systems engineering issues.
  • To acquire, maintain and disseminate knowledge of up to date Software technology and its potential application to Malvern Panalytical
  • To contribute to software development standards and policies under the direction of the Software Team Lead

What do you need to be successful in this role?

  • Energetic, passionate and determined with logical and incisive problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering or science subject, Masters or higher preferred
  • Solid mathematical capability.
  • Development of software systems architecture
  • Able to work with teams across the globe
  • Ability to work comfortably at the systems and user interface level

Great to have?

  • Solid Windows programming experience
  • Experience of Agile methodologies
  • Strong experience in C# and .NET
  • Experience with Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) desirable
  • Experience with embedded solutions using microprocessors, Linux, and RTOS
  • Innovative – to be able to create and develop new ideas
  • Good communicator and team player
  • Commercially aware – to understand the needs of customers and short time to market
  • Experience of system modelling / analysis using tools e.g. MATLAB
  • Proven track record in working effectively to project timescales
